Cooperative degree programmes – a direct pathway into working life
Completing a cooperative degree programme allows you to gain practical experience parallel to your studies. The advantages of a cooperative degree are clear: you make contacts in the professional world early on, your studies have an ongoing practical element, and it is financially beneficial to have a regular income while you are still at university.

The following degree courses in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences are offered exclusively as cooperative degree programmes:
Midwifery (B.Sc.)
Nursing (B.Sc.)
Public Management (B.A.)
The inter-institutional cooperative Midwifery degree course qualifies students to practice midwifery during the family planning, pregnancy, birth, post-partum/early parenthood and nursing phases in both out-patient and in-patient settings. Students receive an academic degree and a professional licence as a midwife. Academic and practical training components are combined structurally and in the course content.
The Nursing degree course is divided into individual practical and theoretical modules. These are taught at the HAW Hamburg Department of Nursing and Management in the theoretical semesters.
Students complete the practical components of the degree course primarily with our cooperation partners in and around Hamburg, in accordance with the German law on the nursing profession. At some of our cooperating partners, students earn a small income during the practical phase. Some of the practice hours are completed in the department's Skills Lab.
Public Management is a degree course offered in close cooperation with the city of Hamburg. It qualifies graduates for a career-track position in the General Services area (formerly the Upper Civil Service).
