Logistics / Business Studies

Graduates of the Logistics/ Business Studies degree course can expect a varied and dynamic working environment. Their extensive knowledge of business administration and technology qualifies them ideally for managerial positions in industry.

Typical fields of activity include logistics planning and control, supply chain management, production and process optimisation and logistics controlling. There are also exciting career opportunities in management consultancy, project management and the development of innovative logistics solutions. Thanks to their knowledge of digital transformation technologies, they are ideally prepared to tackle future logistics challenges and make a significant contribution to increasing ecological and economic efficiency in companies. 

At the beginning of the course, students acquire sound basic knowledge in areas such as general business administration, economics with a focus on sustainability, business informatics, law, quantitative methods, social sciences/management, accounting/controlling and technology. As the course progresses, the share of technical logistics skills increases and highlights the impact of technical aspects on logistical decisions.
Students complete an internship semester in the fifth semester, which can take place either in Germany or abroad. This practical experience provides valuable insights into the real world of work and promotes the application of theoretical knowledge. In the seventh semester, students deepen their knowledge by working on a practical project. This allows them to apply and develop the skills and knowledge they have learnt to a specific task. 
 
The degree course concludes after the seventh semester with the completion of the Bachelor's thesis, in which students demonstrate that they are able to develop scientifically sound solutions to practical problems.

A keen interest in economic interrelationships in society and the exciting combination of technology and business administration makes this degree course particularly attractive.

A good general knowledge, holistic thinking and social skills are required. Other key factors for study success include a good command of language, both oral and written, commitment and the ability to learn and work well in small groups.

Higher education entrance qualification 

You can apply directly for this course if you hold one of the following qualifications:

• Fachhochschulreife
• Allgemeine Hochschulreife  
• Fachgebundene Hochschulreife (subject-specific HE entrance qualification)
• Meister*in (vocational qualification – master tradesperson)
• Fachwirt*in (certified specialist)

Applicants who do not hold a higher education entrance qualification but have completed vocational training (Berufsausbildung) and at least three years of subsequent work experience can apply under Section 38 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act, which sets out special provisions for these applicants (Besonderer Hochschulzugang für Berufstätige).

You are also required to provide proof of proficiency in English at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference as stipulated in section 7, paragraph 2 of the General Admissions Regulations [HAWAZO]).

Pre-course experience

We do not require you to have completed pre-course experience for this course.

International applicants

If you completed your schooling outside Germany and want to study here for a Bachelor’s degree, you need to hold an academic school-leaving qualification which entitles you to admission to higher education; that is, it needs to be comparable to a German Abitur or Fachhochschulreife. The organisation uni assist will check your certificates from school and any degree-level studies to establish comparability. You are also required to have proof of German at level C1 – for example, in the form of a TestDaF certificate.
