Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP)
The Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) is a research and publications infrastructure which aims to support the Baltic University Programme (BUP) members in their research activities and enhance their publications output and profile.
Overview
................................................................................................................................................................................................
BUPRaP operates in two main areas:
- Research: BUPRaP gathers and makes available information on open calls for funding programmes, both from the European Union (e.g. Horizon 2020, ERASMUS+, Europe-AID, INTERREG, etc.) and from other grant-awarding bodies such as CBSS, foundations and other donors. Representatives from the member universities interested in particular calls may contact the BUPRaP team and discuss their possible participation.
- Publishing: BUPRaP coordinates publications in refereed journals on matters related to the environment, sustainable development and climate change. Preference is given to journals with impact factors, since the participating scientists may use them for career development and when applying for future research grants.
In order to optimise its activities, BUPRaP maintains a dedicated members list to facilitate close contact with stakeholders interested in its activities.
Aims
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Launched in March 2018 as a follow-up to the BUP Rectors Conference held in Turku in January 2018, the Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) aims to:
- support R&D at BUP member organisations by catalysing their participation in externally funded research initiatives and projects,
- support the publication efforts of BUP members by coordinating the submission of high-quality papers to indexed journals.
BUPRaP is a multi-stakeholder scheme and can be used by representatives from universities as well as people working at government offices, foundations or NGOs who share an interest in research projects and scientific publications.
How does it work?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
BUPRaP operates on the basis of a 'pull and push' approach. It contacts its members and informs them about opportunities for research bids and publications, hence opening up opportunities for participation. Staff at member universities may contact the BUPRaP office to inform them about their own plans, and to have their search for suitable partners be supported by our team. Research teams (for project proposals) and authors' teams (for scientific papers in journals) will be established based on the members' suitability and skills, and the submission work may be coordinated by the BUPRaP team in Hamburg. Details on specific inputs and the responsibilities of the different scientists will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
About the BUPRaP Office
................................................................................................................................................................................................
BUPRaP is hosted by the Sustainability and Climate Change Management Research and Transfer Centre at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, which is also a BUP associate secretariat. The BUPRaP office works closely with the BUP team in Uppsala, Sweden, with the other associate secretariats in Turku and Lodz, and with BUP national centres. The office is coordinated by Professor Walter Leal.
