Research semester

Bachelor and Master students can complete a research semester at HAW Hamburg as part of a research project or to complete their Bachelor or Master thesis. Research projects should be at least five months in length and start at the beginning of April or October. Application deadlines: 30. April for start October; 30. October for start April.

The application process is the same as for a study semester as an exchange student. Please first contact the research professor to ask if there is an opening in his research field. We currently offer programmes in the following fields:

UAS7 research internships

As a member of the UAS7 consortium, HAW Hamburg offers US undergraduates the opportunity to complete a research semester as part of the UAS7 internship programme (IP). All projects are for five or six months and start in October or April. Research can be completed in the following fields:

Research internship

Gabriel Steinberg from Binghamton University (SUNY), added a practical research experience to his computer science studies in multi-agent modelling and simulation with the MARS group at HAW Hamburg in Germany.
