Since 1995 the DAAD Prize has helped put a face to the large number of foreign students at our university. In doing so, it has made clear that every single foreign student takes a piece of Germany and HAW Hamburg back to their home and leaves a piece of themselves in Germany – something that enriches all of us.

The students who have received the DAAD Prize stand for their fellow students from all over the world. They are Germany's future partners in business, politics and academia.

• You are an international Bachelor's or Master's student at HAW Hamburg and you obtained your higher education entrance qualification abroad or have successfully completed preparatory studies at a German Studienkolleg.
• You are currently studying at HAW Hamburg, are in an upper year of your Bachelor's (at least third year) or Master's (at least second year) degree course, or have recently completed your studies (you graduated less than three months ago).
• Your average grade is at least 1.9.
• You do volunteer work in a social, intercultural and/or political context (or you did so during your studies).
• You have not previously received the DAAD Prize.

You need a reference letter from a professor if you want to apply. Please ask for this letter with enough time in advance (at least two weeks before the deadline).

The application deadline for this year's DAAD Prize is 27 August 2024.
