BAföG student loans
BAföG, a form of student financial assistance provided in accordance with the German law on higher education grants, is one of the most advantageous types of student funding.
During the standard period of study, half of the monthly amount is granted as a bursary and the other half as an interest-free loan. The maximum total amount that must be repaid is €10,000.

International students who have a residency permit granted under section 16 of the AufenthG (the federal residency act) are generally not eligible to receive BAföG.
