The Arab Region faces significant environmental challenges such as water scarcity, desertification, rising temperatures, and air pollution. These are compounded by rapid urbanization and a growing population, which pressure natural resources, infrastructure, and social services. The Arab region’s high vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, including extreme heatwaves and fluctuating rainfall patterns, underscores the urgency of addressing these issues through broad-based sustainable development. Many Arab countries have adopted national strategies aimed at sustainability, like the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the UAE’s Green Growth Strategy.
The symposium aims to create a platform for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from the region and beyond to share best practices, innovations, and research on sustainable development. This event will facilitate regional and global discussions, allowing Arab region stakeholders to learn from other regions and adopt international best practices.
